 | Above The Fire Saddle The toll road levels out at the saddle, still climbing, but it backs off enough to get some wind and pick up some speed. Got lucky for warm clear air and sunshine. The road gets shaded again in a half mile, the views are already making me trip now and then gawking. |
| The towers are now quite close, with 45 degree slopes all around. Nice place, not too far to go; concentrating on pace and ran out of lemonade (still have some water). At a junction with a ridge from the east is a trail sign letting me know it's only 9 miles one way, no wonder I was getting to the top so fast. |  |
