Mt. Wilson Toll Road
Forest

Beyond the station, you switchback to gain a ridge, then begin a sidehill section through thick oak and pine forest. This section is very nice on a hot day. Even so, the underbrush has too much burnable fuel in many places, so the next time this side gets burned, many of the oldest trees will likely be lost, then you usually get a bad erosion cycle the following winter.

The Shaded Sky Blizted the Film

Heavy overgrowth and lots of deadwood

A Cool Section

This is quite a nice way to gain altitude, in thick forest. It's also really unexpected how thick it is. The road traverses through it to a main gulley and follows that up to the fire saddle, which gets burned from both sides. The hillside across the canyon is burned frequently compared to this dense forest, with open hillside and good grass cover, not piles of leaves, deadwood and no grass under the heavy canopy.
